L’Ermitage de Saint-Ser via the Vauvenargues pass
This tour of Mont Sainte-Victoire starts in the village of Puyloubier and takes you to theErmitage de Saint-Ser , featuring a chapel built as an extension of a grotto: in the 5th century, a hermit took refuge here, hence the name!
A perfectly laid-out forest road takes you to the top. Once at the top, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views over the Puyloubier vineyards, the Arc valley, Mont Aurélien and the Sainte-Baume.
La Brèche des Moines
This walk up to Sainte-Victoire has a perfectly signposted path. A stone path leads through typical Mediterranean vegetation to Cézanne‘s lair, then climbs the colossal Croix de Provence and the Brèche des Moines.
Once there, you’ll feel the gentle caress of the mist. You’ll admire a breathtaking view of the Rhône valley below. Mont Ventoux to the north and the snow-capped peaks of the Écrins massif break the horizon.
Le Pic des Mouches
Pic des Mouches is the massif’s highest point. This mountain peak rises to an altitude of 1,011 meters. This hike on Mont Sainte-Victoire is quite challenging and differs from traditional circuits.
Here, the route climbs quite steeply and requires sturdy footwear. The route starts from the Saint-Ser parking lot and heads first towards theHermitage.
The route then crosses the forests and garrigues of Provence to reach a ridge that leads to the Pic des Mouches. The latter offers superb views.
Le Refuge Cézanne

No waterfalls or strenuous cliffs to cross, just a fairly straightforward path southwards to the song of the cicadas.
We recommend arriving early, as the road is very busy.
