It’s high time to take a breather after long months of hard work. So don’t compromise on your next vacation. How about a weekend in Porquerolles ? It’s a paradise island in the Mediterranean, not far from the coast of the town of Hyères-les-Palmiers. There are many magnificent historical and natural sites to visit. And that’s not counting the wide range of activities on offer.

Porquerolles island break: discover the lighthouse

The lighthouse is one of the most important historical monuments on the island of Porquerolles. Built in 1830, the lighthouse stands 84 metres high. Its geographical location makes it one of the most famous buildings in the Mediterranean.

Porquerolles: a trip to Fort Sainte Agathe

Classified as a historical monument, Fort Sainte Agathe was built in the 16th century, during the reign of François 1er. You can visit it on your own or as part of a guided tour. Admission is charged to those aged 18 and over.

Fort Alycastre on the island of Porquerolles

This is another historic monument you must visit on the island of Porquerolles. Built in the 17th century, it was designed to protect the island’s coastline. Fort Alycastre is not only on the list of Monuments Historiques, but also on that of the Conservatoire du Littoral.

Sainte-Anne church in Porquerolles

Sainte-Anne Church is new. Or rather, its transformation is. In the past, it was a military chapel built towards the end of the 19th century. A sort of sanitary refuge for soldiers. In 1929, the building was finally transformed into the church we know today.

Boat trips

In addition to historical monuments, there are many activities you can enjoy with your loved ones on Porquerolles Island. Boat trips are very popular. They take you out to sea to cross the three islands of Or and Hyères.

Hiking in Porquerolles

There’s nothing like a hike to enjoy the paradisiacal landscape of the island of Porquerolles. Several circuits are available, including the forts, ridges, water and landscape trails.

The botanical conservatory

How about a visit to the island’s botanical conservatory, to combine business with pleasure? Discover the secrets of the flora and fauna of Porquerolles.

The institution, which has been in existence since 1979, was accredited as a National Botanical Conservatory in 1990. You can visit us on a guided tour or on your own.

Emmanuel Lopez Garden

Looking for a breath of fresh air? The Emmanuel Lopez garden is the place to be. This little corner of paradise is populated by a wide variety of plant species. These have succeeded in adapting to the climatic conditions of the Mediterranean. The site is also home to plants from Australia, Florida and Africa. Admission is free.

How do I get to Porquerolles Island from Youcamp?

For your stay near the island of Porquerolles, we recommend you book a campsite near Marseille. It’s only 1 hour from the island (76, km). To get there, you need to head for the Tour Fondue, 1 hour from the campsite (79.2 km). The Tour Fondue is located to the south of the Giens peninsula. This is where you’ll find a boat to take you to Porquerolles.

Boat shuttles are operated by TVL. Price : 19.50 euros for a round trip per adult.
