Take advantage of your camping holiday in Marseille to cycle around the city!

The Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône greenway

Starting in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, a 7 km greenway stretches all the way to Plage Napoléon. Ideal for cycling with children, it takes you safely through pleasant countryside. It begins in the streets of the small Provencal town, and continues through a wild and unspoilt natural setting, with the chance to see pink flamingos. The panorama of the coastline is sublime. The route starts on avenue Anatole-France in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, then follows the route de Napoléon to the beach of the same name.

The Paul Ricard de Méjanes estate

Unique in the Camargue, the Domaine de Méjanes is located in Arles, an hour from Marseille, on the edge of the Etang de Vaccarès nature reserve. The 600-hectare estate can be explored by bike. The site is home to a wealth of wildlife: between marshes and rice fields, you can admire the horses, bulls and flamingos emblematic of the Camargue. As well as cycling the estate’s trails, you can stop off at the local produce store and watch bullfighting or equestrian shows.

The Caderousse greenway

An ideal way to discover Provence by bike: the voie verte links Orange to Caderousse. You can cycle it in either direction, starting from Caderousse town center or the Orange tourist office. Nearly 17 km of greenway pass through a variety of landscapes, from the banks of the Rhône to the vineyards, with beautiful views of Mont Ventoux. The route also takes in Orange’s famous ancient theater. Allow two to three hours for the round trip, on a flat circuit ideal for cyclists of all ages!

The Fontblanche departmental forest

The Fontblanche forest estate is located just 30 minutes from Marseille: a paradise for cycling and mountain-biking enthusiasts, it encompasses over 850 hectares of nature in the Roquefort-la-Bédoule and Ceyreste areas. Numerous trails criss-cross the Fontblanche forest, delighting hikers and bikers alike. Highly preserved, the forest is also well equipped for leisure activities, with picnic areas and paths marked out by the French Cycling Federation.

Pichauris Park

In the Garlaban and Etoile mountain ranges, the Parc Départemental des Pichauris offers almost 1,400 hectares of natural landscapes for families to discover. Between Allauch and Peypin, it’s an ideal destination for a family cycling getaway. The estate’s well-developed cycle paths allow you to explore the area in complete safety. You’ll discover historic relics such as the Château de Ners, and enjoy sublime views from the orientation tables.

Marignane on the water

The “Au Fil de l’Eau” discovery trail in Marignane is ideal for a family outing: less than 5 km long, it lets the little ones discover the joys of their first bike rides. The tour follows the waterways of the Marignane area, taking cyclists past the Bolmon pond and the Canal du Rove. It’s a refreshing ride close to Marseille, and also an opportunity to see pink flamingos. At the end of the ride, the Marignane tourist office invites children to take part in a fun quiz.
