Côte Bleue by train

This SNCF line carries thousands of passengers between Miramas and Marseille. It’s like sitting in front of a big screen and admiring breathtaking nature. Why not make this your next journey? Discovering the Côte Bleue train

The Côte Bleue is located to the west of Marseille. It represents part of the Mediterranean coast. The Côte Bleue train has been specially designed to run along this part of the Mediterranean. The railroad stretches over 32 km.

Along the way, you can admire viaducts, calanques and superb, typically Mediterranean landscapes. The train crosses this 32 km stretch in around an hour. During your journey, you’ll stop at every village on the Côte Bleue. To make this odyssey possible, 2 bridges, 23 tunnels and 18 viaducts were built between 1907 and 1915.

Must-sees during your trip

Your journey begins in Marseille. You’ll soon catch sight of the cliffs in the distance. As you pass the Estaque station, the beauty of this picture intensifies. The Côte Bleue train then takes in the sea, passing through the villages of Provence.

Many tunnels await you. At some point, everything will turn black. Only the light from the cabin will break this soothing darkness. And suddenly, your vision will be illuminated by the brilliant blue of the Mediterranean Sea.

Viaducts and trails

The Côte Bleue train makes regular stops to allow you to stretch your legs and visit some of the places you’ll be passing. Discover the viaducts and the Douaniers trail at Ensuès-la-Redonne. You’ll also be enchanted by the beauty of the Couronne beaches.

When you return to your seat, you’ll feel a wonderful sense of calm after contemplating so much beauty… And it’s far from over. As the Côte Bleue train resumes its journey, it overlooks the calanques of Everine. Other surprises await you, such as the landscapes of the Massif de la Nerthe.

Côte Bleue train: practical information

Every day, 15 stations are served by the Train de la Côte Bleue for a round trip between Miramas and Marseille. You can find full details of timetables on the TER PACA website. For detailed itinerary information, click here.

On the price side, special formulas have been introduced, such as the Côte Bleue Pass, which comes in 2 versions:

• Solo at 6 euros per day per user between June 1 and September 30, 2022
• Duo at 10 euros per day for two users during the same period

To get on board, you can reach Marseille’s Estaque train station from Youcamp (30.4 km, or 32 minutes by car).
