Born in 1979 under the impetus of André Giraud, the Marseille-Cassis race began with just 700 participants. In just over forty years, it has established itself as one of the great classics of road racing, attracting nearly 20,000 runners to each edition. Its reputation extends far beyond regional borders: in 2024, no fewer than 64 nationalities were represented on the starting line.
This enthusiasm can be explained as much by the beauty of the course as by the festive spirit that surrounds the event. High-level athletes run alongside amateurs who come for the pleasure of running, from young adults to veterans over 80. This diversity makes Marseille-Cassis an intergenerational and multicultural event, where performance, solidarity and conviviality come together.
Listed on the official calendar of the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme (French Athletics Federation) and certified at international level, the event enjoys worldwide recognition. Participate in Marseille-Cassis 2025: registration and conditions
Signing up for Marseille-Cassis means entering the adventure of a unique event, where every detail has been thought out to facilitate runners’ participation. For the 2025 edition, there are a number of practical things you need to know before setting off.
- Registrations : online via the runner’s account, with the option of transferring a race number or additional options (medal engraving, training plan, etc.).
- New in 2025: medical certificate no longer required, replaced by a PPS certificate (from July 26, 2025) or a valid FFA license.
- Number pick-up: at Marseille-Cassis Expo (Parc Chanot), October 24 and 25. An official wristband will be issued and must be worn on race day.
- Transport : special shuttles and reinforced TER services from Marseille, Aubagne and Cassis, for easy, eco-responsible travel.
