A true natural gem of the Mediterranean, the Coves National Park stretches between Marseille, Cassis and La Ciotat. Limestone cliffs plunging into turquoise waters, wild coves and spectacular panoramas make up this unique, listed and protected landscape.

Exploring the coves by electric bike allows you to appreciate all their beauty at an accessible and environmentally friendly pace. These exceptional routes are easily accessible from our campsite, making your accommodation an ideal starting point for exploring the coves at your leisure.

Why choose an electric bike to explore the Calanques

The terrain of the national park can make cycling routes challenging. With an electric bike (e-bike), even less experienced cyclists can enjoy the trails to the full. The electric motor helps you tackle the hills, while complying with park regulations.

E-bikes combine light physical effort with total immersion in nature, offering a unique experience that is accessible to everyone: families, groups of friends and sports enthusiasts alike.

Spectacular routes

There are three main starting points in particular.

From Marseille

There are numerous walks starting from Marseille, following the Corniche Kennedy and scenic routes, before entering the national park. On the itinerary: rugged cliffs, breathtaking views and picturesque villages such as Les Goudes, where the sea sparkles in the sunshine. Some walks include stops for a swim and breaks in secluded coves, such as the Calanque de Callelongue or other unspoilt beaches along the coast.

From Luminy

From Luminy, the routes mainly follow roads and wide, authorised forest tracks around the mountain range. The routes pass through pine forests and limestone plateaus offering views of the Calanques landscape and occasionally join the Col de la Gineste road, which offers beautiful panoramic views between Marseille and Cassis. It is a good starting point for exploring the massif whilst staying on trails accessible to mountain bikes.

From Cassis

If you’re setting off from Cassis, several operators offer guided or self-guided e-bike tours, tailored to all ability levels. These routes combine easy trails, stony paths and spectacular views, sometimes with guides or virtual apps to help you learn more about the local geology, history and biodiversity.

Regulations and safety

  • Restricted access: mountain bikes (both conventional and electric) may only be ridden on designated cycle paths, tracks and authorised trails. Access outside these designated routes is prohibited and may result in a fine.
  • Recommended equipment: helmet, at least 1.5 litres of water per half-day, weather-appropriate clothing.
  • Preparation: Check for any temporary access restrictions (particularly during periods of high fire risk) and plan your route before setting off.
  • Respect for other users: keep an eye on your speed and where you’re going to ensure you enjoy the ride safely.

Exploring the Calanques on an electric mountain bike combines nature, freedom and effortless riding for a unique experience in the Mediterranean. Whether you set off from Marseille or Cassis, every route offers breathtaking views and moments of discovery in an unspoilt environment. And best of all, from the Youcamp Village – Marseille Provence campsite, you’re ideally situated to quickly enjoy these exceptional panoramas, in the heart of nature and the Mediterranean.
